I'm hoping to soon purchase a decent camcorder soon.

    I've looked at a few digital8 and hi-8 camcorders.

Which camcorders do you recommend priced around ?600-?800.

The important thing is to make sure that it has either a LANC jack or panasonic 5-pin, this makes for a wider range of capture card options

If you are going to do any editing I would go with the Sony Digital-8(model-310).I bought mind from mail order from WB Hunt for $700.These cameras work really well with firewire cards with no input or output lost.I have used mind with Digital Origins IntroDV,and upgraded to EditDV both are a lot more stable than Adobe Prem.
